There are 3 main steps to redirecting customizable process guidance content from the process guidance icon process guidance icon that appears on the work item form in Team Explorer.

  1. Customize your guidance and publish at a location - network share or SharePoint site - that your users can access.
  2. Configure the Process Guidance for your team project to point to the Web site where you have published your guidance.
  3. Modify the process guidance support file for each work item type and store those files on your team project's Web site.

These steps assume that you want to customize the process guidance that supports one of the default process templates that TFS 2012 provides.

Download the zip folder for the process template that supports your team project.

Each folder contains the following subfolders:

  • art
  • html
  • Icons
  • Local
  • Scripts
  • Styles

You can customize the content by following these steps:

  1. Download and unzip the package (Downloads tab).
  2. Edit the html files to customize them.
    The index.html file contains a linked index to all source files.
  3. Publish your custom content in a location that your users can access.
  4. Modify the guidance redirection files in your team projects to point to your customized content.

    Under Documents\Process Guidance: For example, in the Process Guidance.html file (for Scrum), replace:

    <meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0;URL=http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=190651" />

    with the following or equivalent mapping:

    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content = "0;URL=http://YourPortal/Process Guidance/scrum_2.0/html/BugScrum.html" />
